Remember when I was longing for a snow day? Well, it seems like forever ago, but it finally arrived yesterday afternoon. I tracked the progression of centimetres in our living room window.
I never did hear how many we received in total. But it was enough to force the city to pause for a break.
Last night, despite the blizzard conditions, I tried to take Shiva for our normal walk. It wasn’t all that cold out, so I figured, why not?
This would be why not. When the wind was in our faces, it was not a good time. Even the ultimate jock dog had trouble getting through the drifts. Apparently, walking along un-shovelled sidewalks is a workout for humans and dogs. I’ll have to remember that.
Eventually, I gave up and just told her to run around the backyard. I wasn’t exactly worried about her getting anywhere she shouldn’t. No real zoomies last night. Now do you understand why I like the snow?
This morning, of course, she was ready to get out there and dive in some snow banks! Fortunately, the snow had stopped and the city could get out to plough. Which made for some spectacular piles.
It gave me a chance to play with the “snow” setting on my camera. It also was a good opportunity for Shiva to practice her “stay”.
Of course, The Shivster wasn’t entirely impressed with this development.
Less of that annoying black thing and more walking, please!
But I had fun, which is really all that matters in the end.
So, now that I got my longed-for snow day and amused myself taking pictures, I am done with winter for another year. It can go away any time it pleases.
Like, now, in fact, would be a good time. Really, Winter, you don’t have to hang around if you don’t want. We’re good.
