Tuesday Time-out

My practically husband is out of town all week on business. You know what they say, when the boy is away, the girls will play…

Shiva is enjoying hanging out in the PH’s favourite chair whenever she pleases.

She’s also been taking a few liberties with the bed. Shh!

I’ve always assumed when it came to discipline, I would be the hard-ass and my PH would be the weak one. Now we know who the real sucker is. Can you really blame me?

Being a single dog-parent is hard work, IΒ gotta say. IΒ don’t know how people do this alone. If it wasn’t for wine, I doubt I’d make it to Friday!

I like to call this “tactical drinking.”

  1. I’m glad you have Shiva to keep you company.

Love the wine bottle! I’ll have to go see if I can find that at my liquor store.

  2. Ok, it’s in writing now. Your PH knows you can’t (won’t) keep Shiva in line without him. Are you sure that was a good idea?

Of course, I guess he would have spotted the dog hair on his favorite chair anyway. πŸ™‚

    • That’s what the vacuum is for. πŸ˜‰

He’s already admitted he couldn’t look after her alone either so I’m not too worried. One day with Shiva by himself and he’s exhausted.

  3. I would have bought the wine purely for label too.. *LOL* glad you girls are having loads of fun and invading HIS space πŸ˜€

  4. Hey, that wine is from near me! well, a bit South of me. πŸ™‚ All the wineries find some inspiration in their vineyard dogs down there. πŸ™‚ and how can you resist that sweeeet little face?

    • That’s so cool! Have you been there? I would definitely buy it again. It helps they love the animals so much, I cannot lie.

      Impossible!

    • It’s hard not to. When I’m alone, with only the animals for company, I care a little bit less about the rules.

  5. Ahhh! Congratulations on First Place in Tricks for Treats!! I totally knew you’d win — Shiva clearly loves training too much to not win! I’m sure she’ll put to good use all the stuff she just won! So excited for you two. πŸ˜€

    • Thanks so much! I still can’t believe we won. I’m excited too! There were so many great videos, so many dogs who had their tricks nailed a lot better than we did. It was a lot of fun putting it together either way. That’s what it’s all about, right?

  6. I’m afraid if I was left to do it alone, I’d need more than a fifth leg – although fifth would be on the label. πŸ™‚ I adore that middle of the bed shot.

    • Thank you!

It’s not easy, is it? Dogs can be more challenging than you’d expect. I hope you find that fifth you are looking for! πŸ˜‰

  7. this is always my strategy when solo dog parenting. let the dogs sit and sleep everywhere they want, drink copious amounts of wine, tell myself i’m not drinking *alone* because they are there. it works splendidly!

    • LOL

Yes! Yes, it is! I was wondering if anyone would notice. It’s the dog version, naturally. My husband bought it for me as a Christmas gift and I love it. Does it get any better than a pillow AND a pet, combined in one? I think not.

  8. Like the wine. Ha ha. Looks like it’s by the same label that makes ‘Cat’s Pee on the Gooseberry Bush’. Is it?

My friend L brought a bottle of that over the other week and we devoured it in minutes. I remember you telling me that Cat’s Pee wasn’t a good wine. Ha ha. She bought it due to the name. Ha ha. But it was really very good. And money from it apparently went to the SPCA. I felt like I was giving while getting wonderfully buzzed. Ha ha.

    • Nope, Cat’s Pee is made by a vineyard in New Zealand. This wine is Australian, and much better tasting if you ask me. Maybe I just need to try it again? I like that they support animal causes – that’s a reason to drink it right there!

Thanks for commenting, eh? I miss you!

      • Yeah, I found out that Cat’s Pee is a Sauvignon Blanc… which explains everything to me as I really love that type of wine. It’s so easily drinkable for me. πŸ™‚

I’ll try to call you on sunday when I’m free.

  9. I love the stuffie! I’ve seen those so many times at Costco and even had it in the cart and found the way to restrain myself. Shiva looks very cozy in your PH’s chair. πŸ™‚

  10. It looks a bit like here when I am home alone, but imagine it multiplied by four! lol Does Shiva really have her own Pillow Pet? Gah! I’ve been trying to resist getting one for Bunny, and now you have one!

  11. I am glad I’m not the only one to break the “no dog on the bed” rule when the hubbie (or PH) is out of town!

Congrats on the puplove win! Shiva is a superstar, for sure.

  12. In my house, my husband’s nickname is “sta-puff marshmallow man” because he’s such an easy touch when it comes to the pets. I’m more “the enforcer”, although no one ever believes it πŸ™‚
