Pet Bloggers Are Versatile!

Like any true nerd, I have my favourite words. There are some I really enjoy the feel of as they roll off my tongue. The word “versatile” is one such word. That’s why I was so proud and honoured to be awarded The Versatile Blogger Award!

I am always stunned when someone passes something like this on. It’s a wonderful feeling to know I have touched others, even if it’s just with my silly Shiva stories. As I’ve said before and will probably say again, one of the best parts of blogging is the connections I have made with others all over the world. It was an unexpected perk and one I take to heart.

Great thanks go out to Gone For A Walk, a fellow Canadian with a killer sense of humour. Also to Jodi Stone, an agility superstar with two seriously impressive dogs. Lastly, I’d also like to thank Life With Sophie who impresses me every day with all of her accomplishments.

Enough of that mushy stuff!

Naturally, there are some requirements for accepting this award. Since I hate following the rules, I am going to make up my own. And there is nothing you can do about it.

It says to list seven random things about yourself. I babble enough about myself in this space, I think. Instead I am giving Shiva the floor to list some of the things she likes and dislikes about me. It’s a good thing she can’t read or write so I can take full editorial privileges!

1. The Female Person is not very stingy with the treats. If I widen my eyes I can usually get a piece of everything she eats.

2. She gives good pets. Though I wish she wouldn’t try to pet me in front of other dogs or when I am trying to work. It’s so embarrassing!

3. She usually lets me sniff as much as I want. Unfortunately, she has this annoying habit of not wanting to be late for work. As if there is anything more important than finding out exactly which dog last peed on the fire hydrant.

4. She gives me a loaded Kong every single day. I hate that the only way I get it is when she leaves the house but it’s better than not getting it at all.

5. We play lots and lots of fun games. I’d like to play more, of course, but I guess I can’t have it all. I kind of miss that silly game with the jumping box. It’s much better than the silly game with the poles. That one I only play because it makes her happy. (And because I normally get good treats!)

6. She always makes sure there is a blanket on the couch for me to lay on. Obviously I can’t be expected to lay on the couch without a blanket. I am a dog, after all, and have certain needs.

7. She pretends to get mad when I jump on her but secretly I know she really likes it.

Sure, Sheevs, sure.

Now is the best part! It is time to pass on the award to fifteen newly discovered blogs. As I don’t get as much time to read lately as I’d like not all of these blogs are new to me, but all of them are definitely versatile!

In no particular order, the winners are…

AKG Inspiration

The Dog Park

Stumpy’s Daily Dose ‘o’ Dirtville

The Poodle (And Dog) Blog

Adventures of a Cattle Dog

Little Dogs on Long Leashes

Twenty-Six To Life

Success Just Clicks

Ellingsen Photography Blog

Tucker Tells All

The Chronicles of Cardigan

Back Alley Soapboax

Sugar the Golden Retriever

Two Grad Students and a Pittie

Greyhounds CAN Sit

Peggy’s Pet Place

Even if your name isn’t listed and you are an awesome pet blogger, consider this award yours! Because in my opinion, if you are creative enough to write about your beloved furry companion, you are incredibly versatile!

  1. Thanks so much for passing along. You are one of the blogs we make sure to read in the morning. Mostly for your passion with Shiva, a pup who definitely knows how lucky she is. But partly because you never cease to make us laugh – be it the name of your blog or your witty humor. I forgot to say it yesterday, but thanks for the new series on pups that need help – you are def helping so many pups.

Have a great day, we’re gonna go check out some of those blogs!

  2. Ya bewdy! Congratulations Female Person, on your VBA and for continuing to put out some truly thought-provoking posts. I don’t know how you can be so prolific and still have time to sleep, eat, shower and you know…do normal human stuff. Amazing and scary.

Thank you too, for passing the VBA on to me 🙂

p.s. you sound just as much under the control of Shivs as me with Georgia BOL! she just has to widen her eyes…? tragic :p

    xox, Georgia’s slave.

  3. Congratulations, it’s always great to come and read about what Shiva has been up to and loved that she chipped in with the 7 random things!

  4. Congratulations on the award! You are indeed a versatile blogger. You might even be considered a Shiva-tile blogger and that’s even better.

And the new things I learned about your–you’re a softie you always provides blankies and treats? Who would have ever thought it! 🙂

  5. Congrats on the award! I’d definitely say that you’re a very versatile blogger, for a lot of reasons. There are so many good blogs out there that I love for a variety of reasons! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Thank you! My first blogging award! I am both surprised and excited!

And I definitely agree with Life With Sophie’s designation of your versatility.

  7. Congratulations on the Versatile Blogger Award. You definitely deserve it. I love coming by to read your posts and (hopefully) glean a little training advice. You and Shiva are such a great team.

  8. I’m surprised you haven’t received this already. 🙂 Well done. And, what is it with dogs’ eyes anyway? They’re like Siren songs. Irresistable.

I’m humbled by the shout out. Really. 🙂 There are some really darn good blogs on that list. If I wasn’t safely in the unseen privacy of my own home, I think I’d need to run and hide behind a curtain. 🙂

  9. Congratulations on the VBA, Kristine, and thank you for passing it on to us. I accept on behalf of Frankie and Beryl as if it wasn’t for them there would be no blog … and I probably wouldn’t have started reading and loving other people’s (such as yours!) wonderful blogs. Blogging is a bit of a snowball for me, it just keeps rolling along and becoming a bigger and bigger part of my life, when I’ve got time, lol.

Looking forward to reading lots more posts from you. Cheers

  10. Congratulations for the award, Kristine. Well deserved!
I loved reading Shiva’s list of 7 ‘confessions’, very funny. George says that he agrees with most of her points, especially the sniffing and the blanket ones. x

  11. And, what is it with dogs’ eyes anyway? Congratulations on the VBA, Kristine, and thank you for passing it on to us. You are indeed a versatile blogger.
