Happy Canada Day!

While we’re out celebrating our country’s birthday with beer, sunscreen, and fireworks, I will leave you with links to some of my favourite Canadian dog blogs. I hope you all have a brilliant long weekend!

Pup Love – Great stories, great contests, and a great design. If I am not laughing, I am learning something new. Make sure to check out her digital artistry!

The Dog Park – The only complaint I have about this blog is that the author is too busy to post very often. Apparently she has a life outside of blogland or something. But her archives are awesome and definitely worth a read.

Fido and Wino – The creator of the R.O.A.R Squad also takes some of the most brilliant photographs I have seen online. She is super nice and super funny. And so are her dogs!

Back Alley Soapbox – The writer of this blog not only has a gorgeous Newfoundland dog I’d love to snuggle, she does some incredible work in her city in the name of animal welfare. She has inspired me to take some action myself.

Gone for a Walk – The first thing I noticed about this blog, I admit, was it’s fantastic title. I kind of wish I’d thought of it myself. The writer talks about everything from dogs to physical fitness. I hope to get to know her better in the future.

Sadie the Shih Tzu – Hailing from the Canadian Prairie, this little dog is full of personality. The blog showcases not only Sadie’s lovely features, but also a lot of cool dog-related finds from across the Internet.

Indefatigable – I’ve only discovered this blog recently but I already love checking it out. Not just for her terrific photos of Vancouver. The writer has an interesting perspective on dogs and on life.

Doggie Stylish – I’m sure there is no one out there who isn’t well-acquainted with Karen’s “Dog a Day Project” or her lovely handmade collars, but I had to include her on this list. If she isn’t making me laugh with her photos, she is giving me a lot to think about. I’m pretty sure I visit her site every single day.

I know I have missed way too many great blogs – some I’m sure I read all the time and probably don’t even know they are Canadian. Alas, it’s a sunny day in Halifax and my sandals are calling. If I missed you, feel free to chastise me in the comments!

  1. Happy Canada Day!
I’m not entirely sure what kind of camping it is that I can still read my favourite blogs daily, but I’m pretty sure it’s the best kind.
Thanks for the shout-out! I’ll give the big guy some snuggles on your behalf.

    • LOL. In my opinion, that would not be camping at all. But we all have our own definitions of such thing. I am super jealous you are able to get away, though. Since my PH is stuck working today we are stuck at home. Booo. We haven’t been camping even once this year and I am getting major cabin fever!

    • Crap! I knew I forgot someone and it was totally Kolchak! I will have to head over there and apologise, stat. Thanks for the link and reminder!

  2. Happy Canada Day! Thanks for sharing a great list!

Have you ever seen “From Sophie’s View?” They’re Canadian and have some of the most incredible pictures you’ll see, and Sophie is the prettiest Goldendoodle ever!

    • Thank you so much for sharing the blog. Amazingly, I hadn’t heard of it before and they live right here in my own city!

  3. Thanks for heads up on Canadian doggy blogs….I am reading them now. PS…I saw in the newspaper about the problems re: Chain Lake route…doggy owners etc. I sure hope things can get settled. I always feel bad for us doggy owners and the non-dog world. Besides all that have a great Holiday w/e…Cheers from Lawrencetown and my 3 beaches!

    • Thanks for stopping by!

We didn’t have any problems with local home-owners while walking the trail. Because of its location, I’d never let Shiva off-leash there anyway. In my opinion, the trail is just really boring for dog walkers. Dogs have to walk way off the path in order to sniff anything and the view is completely unexciting. It’s probably great for cyclists but there was no enjoyment for us. An hour in we were pretty much certain we never need to return. Next time we’ll just head to Long Lake. Or Lawrencetown. 😉

      • Thanks so much for this…a long drive for nothing…well that never stopped us before…but I know Sophie and she needs action…running and sniffing….so I guess she’ll head to PPP again. She just freaks when she smells the park as we drive down Tower Rd., Young Ave or the waterfront entrance. Cheers again!

  4. Happy (belated) Canada Day, and thanks for the link!
Hopefully everyone spent the weekend outside enjoying the awesome weather that Canada sometimes throws our way 🙂

  5. Oh my goodness! I had absolutely no idea there were so many Canadian dog blogs out there! I’m going to have to work my way through the list and check them all out. I’ve only seen one or two, so it will be a new adventure for us. Happy Belated Canada Day!

  6. I hope you had a fabulous time on Canada Day! Thanks for sharing the links to all those nice blogs. I haven’t checked all of them out yet, but I’m working on it.
