Fun for Christmas Eve Eve

As you probably know, I am an anticipation junkie. To me, there is nothing better than the day before a big event. As a child, the best day of the year was Christmas Eve. I think I looked forward to that day more than the actual gift-opening on Christmas morning, which was always over much too soon. The only day better than Christmas Eve, was the day before, or as I called it, Christmas Eve Eve. December 23rd has still retained some of its magic for me and as an adult I have no shame in cheerfully wishing everyone merry. This year, since it is also my last day of work before the holiday, it feels doubly special. I can feel the excitement of five o’clock looming.

In honour of this personal moment of joy, I thought I would share some of my favourite holiday-related links from around the web.

If you haven’t seen this video yet, you are seriously missing out. I think I laughed all the way through.

Please forgive my bragging, but I have to mention that the brilliant creator of the video, the Talking Animals Guy  is from my part of the world. And he is also donating 100% of the proceeds from his t-shirt sales to the Nova Scotia SPCA. Fantastic, right? While it’s probably too late to order one for the holidays, they do make great gifts for yourself.  Think of it as a present to the animals. After all this giving, you deserve it.

If it’s ham skillets you are craving, check out this post on The Chronicles of Cardigan.  She will show you what buckwheat, sugar plums, and dentists have in common. (I’ll give you a hint, they are all looking for homes for the holidays!)

On Doggie Stylish is a post guaranteed to make you smile and cringe at the same time. 20 Pictures of Dogs Decorated for the Holidays? Yes, please!

On No Dog About It is a moving article about why dogs don’t make good Christmas gifts. The comments are just as good.

For more holiday tune parodies, canine style, I recommend checking out I Still Want More Puppies. I am not too proud to admit she is much better than I am at the skill. All hail the lyric-ripping master!

Lastly, I should remind you it is still possible to enter to win cash for your favourite animal welfare organization! Check here, here, and here for the Rafflecopters to play along.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to take a nap before hitting the mall. As is tradition, I still have some shopping to finish!

  1. Some great links here although I was a bit scared by the dogs decorated for the holidays.

Don’t forget that tomorrow you can start anticipating Christmas eve eve all over again and build up the anticipation for a whole year!

  2. I am a huge fan of Andrew Grantham’s videos, especially the Christmas singing animal ones. They always make me smile. I also love Jupiter. It’s great to know he’s donating the proceeds too. He’s a great guy.

I also love the day before the big day and I am especially excited on Christmas Eve Eve (I thought I was the only one!). That’s usually the day I am in most danger of buying last minute Christmas gifts because I am so excited. 🙂

Loved the pictures of the adoptable dogs on Chronicles of Cardigan. The names were awesome! And, AJ is amazing.

A good way to enjoy Christmas Eve Eve is reading your post! (BTW – Thanks for the shout out!)

    • Jupiter is awesome. Probably the coolest cat of all time. He is a great guy, I definitely agree. So far, I’ve read that he’s donated $25,000 to the SPCA just from t-shirt sales. It doesn’t get any more brilliant than that.

Yay! My husband makes fun of me so I am glad I can now tell him I’m not the only one! Shopping on this day is probably not that smart, come to think of it. 😛

      Happy holidays to you!

  3. Hi Kristine, the photos of dogs draped with Christmas lights were a bit worrisome. The video was funny. We hope that your trip to the mall went well, my mom and dad try to avoid the last minute rush into the Mall. Takes too much patience and good will.

  4. happy christmas eve eve, Kristine. It’s already Christmas eve here and in fact, will be Christmas in just under an hour and a half. we like doing things early here.

Hope you have a lovely holiday season and thanks for being my friend! HUGS x

  5. Christmas Eve is always more fun because of the anticipation. I think even my kids would agree (although they’d be pretty upset if I canceled the presents on Christmas morning).

I love that video – he’s the same guy who did bacon dog. So funny! Especially that white cat, Jupiter!

I’m too late to wish you a merry Christmas Eve Eve and Eve, so for what it’s worth: Merry Christmas! Hope it was at least peaceful. 🙂

p.s. Thanks for the mention. I’m now on a mission to meet Ham Skillet and the brilliant human who came up with his name.
