Less Wordy Wednesday – Spectators

Shiva and I got to be spectators this weekend for a change. My PH was playing inΒ a big 4 on 4 street hockey tournament at the Halifax Commons so we went out to cheer him on.

With over 1,300 participants, there was a lot going on. We managed to find a comfortable spot on the grass away from the action but still close enough to see the game.

It was good to sit on the sidelines for once. Even though my PH’s team didn’t make it all the way, I think everyone had a lot of fun.

  1. Shiva looks quite content in the spot you picked, and your PH looks happy to have you there cheering him on. It’s nice to be the spectator, isn’t it? Sometimes I just pack a lunch and go to the dog shows when I’m not in them (which hasn’t been for a while now) and just root on my friends and their dogs.

    • I chose a spot as far away from people as possible. Luckily, most of the other spectators were watching from the other side of the arena so we had the space to ourselves!

It is fun to just watch. He normally ends up being on the sidelines these days so it was nice to switch it up!

    • Gosh, we’ve barely even started. I just know we are going to be doing the bulk of it at three am the day before. I can feel it in my bones.

  2. Shiva seemed so calm and relaxed, it must have been nice to just sit and enjoy. My grandson starts baseball tonight and while I would love to bring the dogs I’m pretty sure they will not be content to just sit and watch, which means I wouldn’t be able to either. So they will stay home. 😦

    • I am glad you think so! I camped out there specifically because it was as far as we could get from people and other dogs while still close enough to watch the game. It also gave me lots of room to move around when Shiva got anxious. Public places are tough for her, especially if we’re not moving around. She actually did have a few reactions when people snuck up on us. 😦 But all in all she handled it much better than she would have a few years ago!

After the morning I ended up bringing her home and goinb back to watch the last game myself. It was a lot less stressful!

    • It was perfect weather, about 18 degrees with a nice breeze. Shiva had a good time, especially when a puppy walked by and she was allowed to play!

    • I don’t know about perfectly. She probably looks that way because I was bribing her with treats at the time. πŸ˜‰

    • It can be pretty rough. There were a few ambulances called that day, if I remember right. The younger leagues were the most brutal. Luckily he was playing in a beginner fun league so it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could be. πŸ˜›

    • She was indeed. There was a scary moment when playing with a puppy that she slipped her collar and went for a run. πŸ˜› But she came back immediately so I was very proud. It could have been a lot worse!
