  1. To me, a vet tech, this is not precious, cozy, cute nor funny, nor a behavior one should encourage. Having to console a client who inadvertently caused the death of her kitten who was wrapped up in bedding she put in the wash, or arrange for the cremation for a cat that died in the dryer (the client thought the noise was tennis shoes bumping around in the dryer) is indelibly etched in my memory and photos like this make me shudder…

    • Yikes! No doubt! What an awful thing to have happen. I am so sorry the photo triggered that memory. 😦

It’s not a place I’d ever let my cat hang out, the door is almost always closed. Unfortunately my husband had left it open and the neighbour’s cat was somehow able to sneak into our house yesterday – it happens often – and then must have decided it looked like a good place for a nap. I agree that it can definitely be a dangerous situation!

  2. I have a photo JUST like this from my cat Joey. One of his favorite places was in the dryer on warm clothes while folded/hung up stuff. The only time he went in was when it was warm πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Kristine, cats are a little crazy. They like warm spots, particularly if they’re comfy too. My dad used to worry about cats climbing into the engine compartment of his car on a cold winter’s day when he parked outside. He used to “bang on the hood” to scare off any cats that might have climbed in there before starting the car up. So it’s probably best that you double check to make sure the kitty isn’t hiding in the dryer before starting it up, just in case.

    • I completely agree. Our cat never goes in the dryer as the door is usually shut. I’ve never caught him hanging out there. However, I can be really lazy about doing laundry and I think this is a load I put in about a week ago. My husband probably opened it in search of some clean socks and then forgot to close the door. Just blame him. πŸ˜‰

      • Hi Kristine, thanks for the response. We know that you’re responsible, diligent and a good citizen. But your PH, well…I think that he should make amends for allowing the kitty to sneak into your dryer and for all the concern/bad press that you’ve had to deal with on this post. We think that he should buy you dinner at a decent restaurant that has table cloths, candles and wine. Bad PH.
