  1. Looking good Shiva… 🙂

    Hey Kristine,
is that how Shiva sits normally? I mean with one hind leg spread at an angle? Pluto also sits like that, but I was told that it is because of his bad hip condition and that I should encourage him to sit with both his hind legs tucked nearer to his body. You ever heard something like that? Was worried, so just checking.

Love and paw-shakes to you both.

    • Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn’t. Sometimes both legs are spread like that. Normally she only sits like that if she is relaxed. She would never be so lazy if she was waiting at an agility start line, for instance.

I have heard that it can be an indication of ACL problems and so I am always watching for other signs. But she has never had any stiffness or mobility issues so I am not worried about it for now. I don’t know if there is anything that can be done to prevent future issues, other than exercise and conditioning, which she already gets in spades.

Thanks for commenting on it, though. I appreciate the concern! I hope Pluto’s hips remain as healthy as possible!

  2. Hi Kristine, thank you for your comments about my improvised Canadian list. My dad thought that was very nice of you. We don’t really have a large enough porch area that would allow us to put a couple of chairs out upon which to sit out and watch a rainstorm. It rains so much out here that it would be way better to sit outside and watch the sun 🙂 Anyways we’re supposed to start 4 to 5 days of sun and temperatures reaching 23 degrees C by the weekend. Time to get out the kids’ “cool coats”. Hope that all is well on your end and that you guys love your new home.

  3. Awesome! Porches are great, aren’t they?

As soon as the weather gets warm, my porch becomes my dining room, living room, and office. We’ve even slept on the back porch when it gets too hot. I’m sitting on my porch as I type this.

I hope you enjoy many lovely days (rainy or otherwise) with Shiva on your new porch.

  4. It looks like a lovely spot Kristine. I love sitting on porches during rain storms. When I was a child I used to sit out with my grandfather and watch the lightening and thunder. I am a firm believer that is why I am not afraid of storms.

I know you will have many happy memories there. 🙂

  5. I love this idea! Actually, I really want this so that when it rains, I can just watch outside raining with a cup of coffee beside me..
